Stop using heather soil. It is too fine and does not retain enough moisture.
The secret to success with your hydrangeas: 1/3 blonde peat, 1/3 composted planting compost and 1/3 garden soil. Or 1/2 blonde peat and 1/2 composted planting compost if your garden soil is not available or poor quality.
